As a counsellor that is a Christian, I see Christian couples for sex therapy and relationship counselling. Many Christian couples begin their marriage with their wedding night or honeymoon as their first sexual experience they share together. As a faith decision, the couple may have decided to save their sexual relationship for each other when they get married.
The couple can be excited to experience this new part of their relationship but it is also common to have certain expectations and concerns about their sexual relationship for their wedding night, honeymoon and marriage. Sometimes, what a couple experiences can be different to what they were expecting, they may feel uncomfortable being sexually intimate, experience performance anxiety, have challenges holding an erection, feel anxious about intercourse, experience pain during intercourse, or be uncomfortable communicating around sexual matters.
Talking to Renee can help you explore the sexual and relational concerns you may be experiencing as a couple. Counselling involves a variety of interventions such as sexual health education, challenging myths or unhelpful thinking patterns, setting goals and strategies to work on together at home, exploring techniques and skills to enhance communication and build intimacy so that as a couple, you can experience a healthy and satisfying sex life in your marriage.
Additionally, talking to Renee as part of your premarriage counselling can be a helpful way to explore and prepare yourselves as an engaged couple for your future sexual relationship. She will be releasing an ebook in the near future for premarriage couples around sex. Stay tuned!
